Growth of typhoid and paratyphoid bacilli in intravenously infected mice.

The in vivo growth of Salmonella paratyphi A, S. paratyphi B, S. paratyphi C, and S. typhi, as well as of an S. typhi-typhimurium hybrid, was studied in three different strains of mice. The Agglutinability of Blood and Agar Strains of Typhoid Bacilli

Cultivation on 10 per cent rabbit blood agar did not affect the agglutinability of fifty-seven strains of typhoid bacilli. The authors were unable to confirm the observations of Gay and Claypole on the variation in agglutinability caused by cultivating the typhoid bacillus on blood agar. A typhoid bacillus showing irregularity in fermentation, agglutination, and indol production is described.

Non-flagellate Pseudomonas aeruginosa in pathological material.

Three isolates of non-flagellate Pseudomonas aeruginosa obtained from pathological material of human cases are described. Two were found in urinary tract infections and the third in a respiratory infection. They were shown by typing methods to be distinct strains.
